YouTube: Common Issues

What are common issues that can affect creators connecting to YouTube

Creators connecting their YouTube account should not run into many issues during the process, but there are a few things that might come up . In this video, we walk through the areas in your account to confirm they are set up properly. Below, we've also outlined these common scenarios.

You have not set up a Google Account for your YouTube Account

This is an uncommon scenario, but you may still see that a you cannot log in because you do not have a Google account set up. You will need to set up your Google Account before linking to GRIN following the steps here: Create an Account on Google.

Creator did not enable permissions

When you log in with Google, it should prompt you to allow permission access to your account. If you did not correctly configure these, you can get stuck in a log in loop where you are logging back into your Google account and it is reconfiguring the same permissions already allowed. You will want to go in and remove the GRIN third-party app access and attempt to sign in to GRIN again following the steps here: Manage third-party apps & services with access to your account.

You are being logged into the wrong Google Account

When you are logging in to GRIN through the portal, it is connecting to the Google API. This API can take the account already logged in to the browser you're currently using and automatically configure it to the Live Site. If the wrong Google Account is being logged in, you should log out of the incorrect account in the browser and attempt to reconnect. You can also attempt to connect using a private browser session.
